Kubo by KGM Resorts is a Filipino-rooted luxury hospitality destination inspired by nature, tropical living, architecture, and the enduring warmth of Filipino hospitality.

Inspired by the traditional Filipino kubo, the project reimagines vernacular Filipino architecture through a contemporary hospitality experience grounded in simplicity, craftsmanship, wellness, and a deep connection to place.

Designed around tropical landscapes, open spaces, natural materials, and intentional living, Kubo blends architecture, culture, sustainability, and storytelling into an immersive experience inspired by the spirit of the Philippines.

Every element is shaped to reflect a strong sense of place — from architecture and gardens to food, atmosphere, craftsmanship, and guest experience — creating a destination that feels authentic, grounded, and connected to nature.

More than a resort, Kubo by KGM Resorts represents a vision for Filipino luxury hospitality that celebrates culture, nature, creativity, and meaningful human connection in a timeless and globally relevant way.

About KGM Resorts

Rooted in Nature. Inspired by the Soul of the Philippines.

KGM Resorts is a Filipino-rooted luxury hospitality brand centered around culture, architecture, nature, and meaningful travel experiences.

Before the first resort was developed, KGM Resorts began building a growing global community through storytelling and travel content. Through the KGM Resorts platform, the Finding Utopia newsletter, social media communities, books, and creative projects, the brand continues to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Philippines.

At its core, KGM Resorts is inspired by the belief that hospitality should feel deeply connected to place, culture, and human experience.

The brand draws inspiration from:

  • traditional Filipino architecture

  • tropical landscapes and island living

  • indigenous craftsmanship and artistry

  • Filipino hospitality and warmth

  • wellness, simplicity, and intentional living

  • the cultural diversity of the Philippines

Rather than following conventional luxury hospitality models, KGM Resorts is being shaped around authenticity, atmosphere, and cultural identity — creating experiences designed to feel immersive, grounded, and connected.

Kubo by KGM Resorts represents the flagship vision of the brand.

Inspired by the traditional Filipino kubo, the project blends tropical architecture, landscape design, wellness, sustainability, and cultural storytelling into a hospitality experience rooted in the spirit of the Philippines.

Every element is shaped to reflect a strong sense of place — from architecture and landscape to materials, craftsmanship, and guest experience.

KGM Resorts continues to grow as a long-term vision dedicated to creating hospitality experiences that honor Filipino culture while presenting it in a timeless and globally relevant way.

More than a destination, KGM Resorts is a celebration of place, culture, and the enduring warmth of Filipino hospitality.

Founder Story

I am James Rivera founder of KGM Resorts,

My background has never followed a straight line. I studied architecture, worked in design and construction, learned landscaping through hands-on experience in Northern Luzon, spent time collecting and selling Filipino antiques, immigrated to Canada, worked in manufacturing, and eventually built my own lawn care business.

Across every stage of that journey, one idea remained constant: creating a Filipino-rooted destination built around architecture, culture, nature, and hospitality in a way that feels authentic to the Philippines.

KGM Resorts was built from that vision.

Long before the resort itself exists, we began building the foundation around it. We launched the KGM Resorts platform, grew our blog and newsletter Finding Utopia, and built an organic audience across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and X. We expanded into Philippine-inspired travel books and coloring books through KDP, all contributing to a growing community connected to Filipino culture, travel, and storytelling.

Kubo by KGM Resorts is the culmination of those years of work — a digital-first Filipino luxury hospitality brand rooted in nature and inspired by the soul of the Philippines.

The goal has never been to create another luxury resort. The goal is to build a place that reflects the richness of Filipino identity, from architecture and craftsmanship to hospitality, landscape, and cultural storytelling.

Every step taken so far has been part of laying the groundwork for that future.
